#FollowtheLite October Feature: Ty Allen

Follow the LiteLiteWork Events originated as a vision to create an Urban Socialite Network in Boston. What better way to build on this vision than to highlight some of Boston’s most dynamic urban young professionals and socialites! Check out our latest feature, and hopefully you’ll also catch up with them at our next event!

Name: Tyrishma A. Allen Ty Allen

Where are you from? Born in St. Thomas U.S.V. but I but grew up in Dorchester, MA

Alma Mater? Hampton University-Bachelors: Finance; Georgetown University- Masters: Real Estate Development

What brings you to Boston? I grew up in Boston but was away after leaving for college, over 10 years ago. In 2013, I moved back home to be closer to my family and to reacquaint myself with my hometown.

Tell us about yourself (What are you passionate about? Any side hustles?): By day, I am a Financial Analyst at Harvard University and have worked for both my alma maters in similar roles. I’m an author/poet of My Daughter, My Angel which was published in 2013 and speaks of my experience with preeclampsia- a hypertensive disorder of pregnancy.

As a result of my experience, I have volunteered with the Preeclampsia Foundation. For the last few years I have been a Walk Coordinator for the “Promise Walk for Preeclampsia ” — both in Boston and the DC Metro area. As a Walk Coordinator, I have planned all stages of the Promise Walk, including fundraising, marketing and raising awareness of the condition.

Recently, I have launched my brand Creativi_Ty, which encompasses a range of interests that include poetry, event planning and desserts. I have been actively focused on my dessert blog, SUG SUG, which features all things sweet and dessert-related. Under the section of my blog titled “Delish or Nah”, I provide critiques of desserts which I’ve tasted from local restaurants, bakeries and shops; rating them in presentation, taste and originality for an overall rating of 1-5 cookies (instead of stars). The critiques include photos, are straight to the point and are written the way I would tell a friend about the experience. Other sections of my blog include: “In My Kitchen,” “International Sweets & Eats” and “Tasty Events”. The blog offers readers recipes, fun reviews about global treats, and local food events.

What’s one thing we should know about you? I enjoy exploring new things – whether it’s a new restaurant, city or activity. I love a good laugh and never take anything too seriously (YOLO)!
